Annotation: There have been proposed the methodical recommendations to reduce the costs for technical preparation of rolling stock, for maintenance and restoration of its working capacity. Reducing the costs of supporting processes is made by optimizing the staff of the operating personnel according to the proposed methodology, based on the use of dependences of maintenance burden and repair of the vehicle fleet on the average monthly mileage, taking into account its age characteristics and operating conditions. The expediency of practical use of the proposed methodological recommendations is substantiated.
